4 days old
Published: by aaronlynch August 16th, 2006OK, well 2 hours shy of being four days old, but close enough. Last night was a much better night. Amaya experienced a few d-stats, low oxygen, but nothing severe. She likes to suck her lower lip in and since her nasal passage is open to her mouth she blocks off her airway, we have found a few positions she tends to better on, but she’s a baby and she wants to suck. We have a prayer request, our latest hurdle is that she has a hole in her heart that should have closed up after delivery and hasn’t. They have started her on medicine that can potentially close it, but it seems to work better in preemies. Friday she will have a follow up echo to see if the medicine has worked. If it hasn’t the only other way to close it is with surgery. We don’t know if this is possible for her, because we don’t know if she can be intubated. They tried twice at delivery and it failed. If surgery is not possible than she can live with it open but it allows blood to flow into lungs which a whole new set of problems. So please everyone pray that this medicine works and her heart is closed up properly. We know everyone continues to pray and thank you all. Amaya has showed her self to be a strong little girl and we know that God is with her, we still believe that God can heal her and pray for that daily.
Love the new pictures. She is just lovely. I still can’t believe that she isn’t bigger, she looks so big in the pictures. We are here still praying for you all.

My good friend Barb McMurchie sent me the website for Amaya. What strong christian parents you are. God entrusted you with her - love and comfort her each and every minute you have with her. We have seven grandchildren - 3 of which have a genetic disorder - HSAN. We feel so blessed by all seven of the grandchildren. We will be holding you up in prayer and checking your site often. I am passing this onto our children also. God bless you all real good.
Aaron & Gina, How awesome to see your little miracle!! Tina just gave me this web site and I have been devouring it. I see such strength in you and Aaron, in your faces. What an honor that God chose the two of you to take care of Amaya. What a beautiful, beautiful name!!! Please know that I am praying for God to continue to do His thing and to strengthen your whole family. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. We love you dearly..

Aaron and Gina,
We are praying that the medication will close the hole affecting Amaya’s heart. It’s good news to hear that she was able to take some of her feeding into her stomach.
Amaya looks so pretty in pink. I especially love the picture with the little pink bow on her head. She’s just so sweet and so precious.
I hope that everyone is taking good care of mommy and daddy, and that the NICU is keeping you comfortable and caring for all of your needs too.

Oh wow, what a delight to see our precious Amaya all dressed up for her pictures! Just melts my heart that she’s so beautiful. The girls and I are praying for you all, several times a day. Tonight we will concentrate on healing the hole in her heart. We do believe in miracles! Wishing you all the best and thanking you for the chance to get to know Amaya through your wonderfully written words and great pictures. Love you, Aunt Susan, Delainey and Natalie
P.S. When I told the girls that Amaya heart had a hole in it and we needed to pray for it to heal, Ms. Delainey said she’d play some music to help Amaya. So, she put on her Sunday School Songs CD and played, “My Little Heart”, which has the words, My little heart has a great big love for Jesus!! I think that sums up Amaya and her wonderful parents and siblings!!
Our prayers are with you guys. Be Blessed.
Amaya is so precious! I praise God for your strength through Christ, and I’m definitely praying for Amaya’s strength, comfort, and that her heart be healed. Actually, I’ll have an army here on the east coast praying!
I got this devotional from E-ministries. I hope it will bless you.
No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his
great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all
its great strength it cannot save. But the eyes of the LORD are on
those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to
deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
(Psa 33:16-19 NIV)
Prayer: LORD, give me courage and strength to honestly examine my
heart for where my hope lies when circumstances appear their worst.
Help me set my heart to find my hope in You, and no other place,
because although You may use other people or things for my good, You
and Your unfailing love are my source of strength, hope, and
deliverance, regardless of circumstances. Thank You for giving me
hope, when otherwise, I would have none. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
